Description

As part of the redevelopment of the Bower Ashton Campus by The University of the West of England artist partnership KRAS (Kate Rogers and Andrew Savage) were selected via a competition open to all staff and students called Think Place to produce a series of works for the new building and wider campus.

The artists developed a legibility framework called Neon comprising of interventions, both typographic and handwritten, which can be glimpsed between treetops, hidden in corridors and boldly sited upon architectural elevations. The work aids orientation around the campus as well providing an opportunity for a visual dialogue to emerge between the interior and exterior of the campus.

Think Place: Neon is part of The University of the West of England’s 10-year masterplan, comprising of a new building (F Block), refurbishment of B Block and improvements to the campus landscaping.
